Parker's Story

My name is Parker Jelke. This is how NATS got started...In sixth grade, my History teacher encouraged me to enter some tournaments sponsored by International Academic Competitions (IAC). I ended up winning the National History Bee that year and the next and coming in second in the world at the International History Olympiad. I especially loved leading my history team to the National History Bowl Championship in 8th grade. I am still an active academic quiz competitor in IAC History Bee/Bowl and NAQT Quiz Bowl. I love the competition and how it makes academics come to life, but I most appreciate all the friends I have made worldwide. I started this company to help and inspire young students with an affinity toward history and geography to develop their skills and knowledge through competitive academic competitions.

Parker Jelke
History Coach/ Founder/ Co-Director
I started competing in 6th grade. I won 2 national championships, and came in second another time. I helped lead my bowl team to a gold medal in 2023 and finished 2nd overall in the International History Olympiad that year. I have also qualified for the Quiz Bowl Individual National Championships twice and finished in the top 5 in History. In 2025, my bowl team took 2nd place in the IAC National Championship, and I placed 4th overall at IHO. I love history and travel, and I enjoy mentoring others. I have learned how to study and prepare for competitions and would like to help others develop their skills. Through academic competitions, I have made great friends from all over the world and have learned to succeed under pressure. I look forward to sharing my experience and inspiring others.

He led his school team to four History Bowl national championships, and was on the winning team for both the 2022 International History Bowl JV World Championship and the 2025 Varsity World Championship. Outside History Bowl, Robert enjoys writing questions and learning more about all facets of history, particularly post-colonial and contemporary history. He currently plans to study history at Columbia University.

Luke Ng
History Coach
Luke Ng is the current Junior Varsity and former Middle School overall champion of the International History Olympiad, being the first and only person to have ever won a grand slam by achieving golds in every component event. Luke is currently coordinating training efforts for multiple History Bowl teams in Singapore, and is open to coach students based in Asia or Oceania on various aspects of history, particularly that of China, Rome or the Third World. Outside of IAC, Luke enjoys writing questions (having produced several housewrites for internal tournaments), playing the violin and trying French food. Note that he is based in Singapore (GMT +8) so his ability to coach American students may be limited.

Grady Noble
Academic Coach
Grady Noble has had a love of sports from a very early age. His mild cerebral palsy made it difficult to compete in sports so he was thrilled when he found that he could compete in a different type of event – history, geography and academic competitions. Grady’s had success on the international stage, finishing second overall at the 2025 International History Olympiad (IHO). He’s earned a total of 16 medals (10 golds) over 3 separate IHO competitions. At the national stage for International Academic Competitions (IAC), Grady has also earned 17 total medals (8 gold) since 2022. In addition, he has competed in multiple finals at nationals and has won an IAC national championship. Grady is also active on the quiz bowl circuit having won an All-Star award for 4th place at NAQT Middle School Nationals and one for 14th place, as a sophomore, at NAQT High School Nationals in 2025. Jaz Puri
History Coach
I am a National and International History Champion. Since I was very young, I have enjoyed learning about history, culture, and politics. My mother is from Mauritius, and my father is from India, so I have been lucky to travel a lot, and I think that has helped me understand the importance of having a global perspective. I joined my school's history club and found I could combine my love of history with competition. I look forward to helping develop the next generation to reach their highest potential in academic competitions.

Jack Gonzalez
History Coach
I have been competing in the History Bee/Bowl since 6th grade. Over the years, I have accumulated multiple awards and medals, ranking in the top 20 history students in the nation at my grade level. My JV team also came in 2nd place at IAC's national championship in 2025.
Through competing, I have built strong bonds with my teammates, competitors, and my fellow tutors. I know what it takes to improve and succeed in history competitions, and I am excited to help others reach their goals.

Lucas Gonzalez
History Coach
I'm a high school student with a strong passion for history and years of experience in academic competitions. Since 6th grade, I've competed in IAC, earning multiple medals, awards, and top rankings. In 8th grade, I won the National History Bowl and placed second in Bowl at the International History Olympiad in Rome.
I am half Brazilian and half Colombian, and currently live in Brazil. My multicultural background and extensive travel have given me different perspectives and a deeper understanding of the world, culture, and history. I enjoy helping others build their historical knowledge, whether they're preparing for a competition or just want to see the past in a clearer, more connected way.
Harlan Hoenig
History Coach
I am a high school student passionate about history, earning national recognition in competitions for four straight years. I have a special fascination for World War I and II. When I am not diving into books, I am making music—competing and winning regional and state singing competitions while also playing piano and cello. I love working with kids, and am always ready to drop some historical knowledge on anyone who’s up for a good conversation.

Samanyu Ganesh
Academic Coach
Samanyu is a rising senior at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia. Most active on the quiz bowl circuit from 2021-2023, he placed among the nation’s top competitors in NAQT’s Individual Player National Championship Tournament and also took home numerous individual national titles through events run by International Academic Competitions (IAC). Most notably, he was the first-ever overall individual champion of the International History Olympiad in back-to-back years. Though technically specializing in science and history, Samanyu’s results in the International Geography Championships, National Humanities Bee, and National Academic Bee speak to a more generalized skillset. For fun, he enjoys running, listening and playing music, and trying new foods.

Haughton Neppl
Academic Coach
Haughton Neppl is a junior from the Washington D.C. area who has competed with IAC internationally since elementary school. He primarily specializes in history but considers himself a generalist. For three consecutive years, Haughton has qualified for national finals in the History and U.S. History Bees and placed in the top three nationwide in the Academic Bee. In addition, last spring he qualified for at least the national semifinal round in every bee category (including Geography, Science, and Political Science). He also excels in fine arts and literature-themed questions included in the Academic and Humanities Bees. Moreover, Haughton is the founder and Executive Director of QB4ALL, a soon-to-be 501(c)(3) nonprofit that expands access to quizbowl for underprivileged students. Haughton also has years of experience coaching elementary and middle school students both locally and nationwide and is excited to work with NATS to share his expertise.
